The Bundeswehr Social Services Department offers all active and former members of the Bundeswehr of all status groups, as well as their families, individual advice and support in all social matters. It is divided into two specialist areas social work and social counselling. The employees are bound by professional secrecy.
Social workers have expertise in the fields of law, psychology, sociology, education, administration and medicine. They advise all members of the armed forces and their families either at their offices, at events organised by support organisations, at lectures or during home visits. They also work closely with military chaplains, doctors and psychologists in the armed forces, among others, and can act in an advisory and mediating capacity.
Social counselling tasks are performed by senior non-technical administrative officers. They provide information and advice on substantive legal regulations in the social sector and, if necessary, assist with the application process.
The social services directory with contact details for social services can be downloaded from the internet as an Excel document.
