#InvisibleSuffering - Perspective: From the point of view of children (Episode 4)

We are preparing a premiere for the 1st National Veterans' Day in Germany: we will be presenting the 4th film of our #InvisibleSuffering project here on our website and at our stand during the main event at the Reichstag in Berlin.

The psyches of soldiers are exposed to particular stresses

Soldiers in the German Armed Forces have been involved in military missions around the world since 1991. Their mission is to ensure peace, establish it or advocate for its observance. Such missions do not always leave soldiers unscathed, both physically and mentally.

#InvisibleSuffering

The #InvisibleSuffering project aims to raise awareness of the problems faced by active and former soldiers in the German Armed Forces who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder as a result of their service, and their family members.

What PTSD is

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a trauma- and stressor-related mental disorder. It can be caused by experiencing stressful – traumatic – events. These are usually so exceptionally threatening or catastrophic in nature that they can cause lasting psychological distress in almost anyone.

Offers of help — Who does what?

We have compiled the most important services offered by the German Armed Forces and civilian and voluntary organisations to provide help and support in relation to PTSD and other psychological disorders resulting from military service.

Angriff auf die Seele
Psychosocial Support for Members of the German Armed Forces

The association offers information and assistance to members of the German Armed Forces and their families who have been exposed to particular psychological stress in the course of their service or who suffer from mental disorders. It also caters to former members of the German Armed Forces. Furthermore, the association supports institutions and individuals involved in the research and treatment of mental disorders among members of the German Armed Forces.
