PTSD Commissioner of the Federal Ministry of Defence

The Federal Ministry of Defence's representative for post-traumatic stress disorder and trauma suffered during deployment (PTBS representative for short) is the central point of contact at ministerial level for those who have suffered trauma during deployment and their relatives. Anyone can contact him directly.

In his role, he provides a wide range of support services with the involvement of the psychosocial network.

The duties of the PTSD officer include, among other things:

• Identifying the specific need for action to develop efficient prevention, care, treatment and supply management,
• Advising and informing the management of the Federal Ministry of Defence (BMVg) on fundamental issues relating to mission-related mental illness.

The aim is to ensure that those affected benefit as quickly and efficiently as possible from the numerous assistance and welfare measures offered by the Bundeswehr through continuous and targeted optimisation of procedures.
