Protestant, Catholic and Jewish military chaplains provide their services almost nationwide in Germany and accompany troops on missions abroad. As pastoral carers, military chaplains are not part of the military hierarchy. They are bound by pastoral confidentiality and the seal of confession, making them particularly trustworthy confidants. Soldiers who have lost their basic trust after suffering trauma during deployment particularly value military chaplains as conversation partners. They are often the first people to whom these soldiers can confide.
The military chaplaincy is dedicated to all members of the armed forces through conversation, prayer and worship, and not least through adult education in the form of life skills lessons.
