Introduction

„Man, you're always in a bad mood,” „Go out and have some fun. It'll take your mind off things,“ or „Don't let yourself go.“ Maik S. has been hearing comments like these repeatedly lately, from his wife and friends. At the same time, he is plagued by extreme fatigue. During a routine check-up with the military doctor, the man in his mid-thirties explains that this is due to his changed life situation: he has just been transferred after a long tour of duty abroad and is now responsible for an entire platoon on his own for the first time. The doctor agrees that it is reasonable for him to need time to adjust. He therefore advises Maik to take it easy until he has got used to his new daily routine. But his low mood shows no sign of improving. Even after several weeks, Maik still feels listless and prefers to spend his free time on the sofa or in bed.
