The non-profit association Angriff auf die Seele – Hilfe für Angehörige der Bundeswehr e. V. (Attack on the Soul – Help for Members of the German Armed Forces) wins this year's German Brand Award with its campaign. #Unimaginable suffering. The award ceremony will take place on 13 June 2024 at a gala dinner and awards show in the Uber Eats Music Hall in Berlin.
The #UnsichtbaresLeid campaign aims to raise awareness of the challenges faced by active and former soldiers in the German Armed Forces who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder as a result of their service, and their families. With #InvisibleSuffering Three impressive short films have been produced. The films exemplify the individual subjective inner perspectives of those affected and their partners with different symptoms following operational stress.
The films are based on an idea by Angriff auf die Seele e. V. (Attack on the Soul) and were developed as part of the German Armed Forces' support network in collaboration with the German Hardship Foundation, the Catholic Family Foundation and the German Armed Forces' Psychotrauma Centre at the German Armed Forces Hospital in Berlin. They were produced by the agency C3 Content GmbH in Berlin.
Quote from Sergeant Major Frank Eggen, chairman of the association:
„We are very proud that our campaign #UnischtbaresLeid is receiving the attention it deserves. It impressively demonstrates the challenges faced by soldiers and veterans on active duty and their families. The films also encourage people to seek professional help. This project is an example of the great results that can be achieved when we combine our strengths and creativity within the Bundeswehr's support network. We look forward to continuing the campaign.“
The German Brand Award achieved a major international response in 2024 with over 1,300 entries from 19 countries. A total of 66 projects received awards. The association was the clear winner in the category „Excellent Brand: Non-Governmental Organisations and Public Affairs“.
