Family Veterans Week in Austria

From 24 August to 1 September 2024, a family veterans' week was held in Kirchdorf near Sankt Johann in Tirol with soldiers injured in action, veterans and their families. The event was supervised by a psychologist from our association Angriff auf die Seele e.V., the Protestant military chaplaincy and a military doctor currently stationed in France, and was organised in collaboration with the Soldiers and Veterans Foundation (SVS), which, as always, did an outstanding job.

The family weekend is one of over 13 projects that the association for veterans, soldiers injured in action and their families has been able to finance and carry out since last year thanks to the many generous individual donations and grants from the federal government.

The aim was to give soldiers who had been injured in action, together with their families, the opportunity to recover, regenerate and strengthen their resilience outside of their everyday military life, and to address issues that affect their families as a result of their injuries.

In addition to many great conversations, good food, countless acupuncture needles used for pain therapy and tons of ice lollies devoured by our little guests, joint excursions on foot, by carriage and by car to the Alps, including an adventurous convoy trip off the beaten track, were also part of the week's experiences.

The joint programme also included trips to the summer toboggan run and a gondola ride to Ellmi's Magic World on the Hartkaiser at an altitude of 1,550 metres. All in all, it was a wonderful experience with great families and dedicated supporters. We would like to thank everyone who made this possible.
