New structure at the Federal Office of Personnel Management of the German Armed Forces

The Federal Office of Personnel Management of the German Armed Forces (BAPersBw) has had a new structure since 1 July 2020. This affects the Central Contact, Management and Coordination Office for People Suffering from the Consequences of Military Service (ZALK). The ZALK is the key point of contact for active and former soldiers who have been injured in the line of duty when it comes to implementing the Deployment Reuse Act (EinsatzWVG) and the Deployment Accident Ordinance (EinsatzUV). In the old structure, the ZALK was organisationally located in the BAPersBw in ZS 2 (BAPersBw ZS 2 ZALK). From 1 July 2020, the ZALK will be integrated into Department VII of the BAPersBw and can be found under the following department designation: BAPersBw VII 1.5.

The ZALK has the following responsibilities:

• Fundamental issues relating to the Deployment and Re-deployment Act and the Deployment Accidents Ordinance
• Central application of the Deployment and Reuse Act and the Deployment Accident Ordinance
• Central coordination of all matters relating to personnel management in connection with the wounding/injury of military personnel on foreign missions
