But what happens when the wound is not on the skin, but on the soul? With our campaign <strong>#InvisibleSuffering<\/strong> Let's take a look at something that many people choose to ignore: the psychological consequences of the German Armed Forces' missions abroad.<\/p><p>In four powerful short films, we give suffering a face. It is important to us to be transparent: <strong>The protagonists of our films \u2013 Dieter, Anna, Alexander and Daniel \u2013 are fictional characters.<\/strong> But their stories are shockingly real. The scripts were based on numerous real interviews and conversations we had with soldiers, veterans and their families who were actually affected.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><div class=\"bde-column-1447-110 bde-column\">\n  \n  \n\t\n\n\n\n\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/section><section id=\"ideen-hinter-den-videos\" class=\"bde-section-1447-111 bde-section\">\n  \n  \n\t\n\n\n\n<div class=\"section-container\"><div class=\"bde-div-1447-112 bde-div\">\n  \n  \n\t\n\n\n\n<div class=\"bde-grid-1447-261 bde-grid\">\n  \n  \n\t\n\n\n\n<div class=\"bde-div-1447-262 bde-div\">\n  \n  \n\t\n\n\n\n<div class=\"bde-div-1447-265 bde-div\">\n  \n  \n\t\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"bde-heading-1447-116 bde-heading\">\nThe voice of the soldiers\n<\/h2><div class=\"bde-rich-text-1447-290 bde-rich-text breakdance-rich-text-styles\">\n<p>The figure of the <b>Dieter Walz<\/b> represents those who return from deployment and realise that \u201eeverything in life has changed\u201c. He embodies the real phenomenon of burying feelings and fears deep inside until the pressure escapes in the form of depression, flashbacks or aggressive outbursts of anger. His story shows how those affected often completely shut themselves off and feel dead inside.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><div class=\"bde-div-1447-320 bde-div\">\n  \n  \n\t\n\n\n\n<div class=\"bde-div-1447-321 bde-div\">\n  \n  \n\t\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"bde-heading-1447-322 bde-heading\">\nWhen families break apart\n<\/h2><div class=\"bde-rich-text-1447-323 bde-rich-text breakdance-rich-text-styles\">\n<p>PTSD and post-traumatic stress disorder never affect soldiers alone. We have incorporated the real experiences of spouses into the character of <b>Anna Schmidt<\/b> bundled together. It shows how relatives suffer from their partners\" \"emotional coldness\" and personality changes, often to the point of exhaustion and nightmares. The scene in which her husband wants to put an end to the pressure reflects the dramatic reality that some families face.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"bde-rich-text-1447-327 bde-rich-text breakdance-rich-text-styles\">\n<p>The perspective of the children, represented by the son of the fictional father, is particularly touching. <b>Alexander Habermann<\/b>. He gives a voice to all those children who wonder why they are no longer allowed to hug their father or whether they themselves are to blame for his anger. Alexander himself shows the inner struggle of a father who loves his family but loses control due to his illness.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><div class=\"bde-div-1447-324 bde-div\">\n  \n  \n\t\n\n\n\n<div class=\"bde-div-1447-325 bde-div\">\n  \n  \n\t\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"bde-heading-1447-326 bde-heading\">\nThe way back to life\n<\/h2><div class=\"bde-rich-text-1447-328 bde-rich-text breakdance-rich-text-styles\">\n<p>The expert in our films, <b>Daniel Kunz<\/b>, is based on professional reality. His explanations condense therapeutic knowledge in an understandable way: he compares trauma to a \"shot to the soul\" and a jumbled puzzle in the mind. His message to all those affected is clear: it is a sign of strength to take off the \u201eemotional protective mask\u201c and seek help.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/section><section id=\"starkes-netzwerk\" class=\"bde-section-1447-329 bde-section\">\n  \n  \n\t\n\n\n\n<div class=\"section-container\"><div class=\"bde-div-1447-330 bde-div\">\n  \n  \n\t\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"bde-heading-1447-334 bde-heading\">\nA strong network behind you\n<\/h2><div class=\"bde-rich-text-1447-335 bde-rich-text breakdance-rich-text-styles\">\n<p>This campaign is a joint effort based on broad expertise. <b>#InvisibleSuffering<\/b> is an idea from <b>Angriff auf die Seele e. V.<\/b> The first three films were produced in close cooperation with the project \u201eMutmacher \u2013 Stark f\u00fcr Bundeswehrfamilien\u201c (Encouragers \u2013 Strong for Armed Forces Families) by the <b>German Hardship Foundation<\/b> as well as the <b>Catholic Family Foundation for Soldiers<\/b>.<\/p><p>In order to ensure the technical accuracy of the symptoms and treatment methods described, accompanying advice was provided by the <b>Psychological Trauma Centre of the German Armed Forces<\/b> at the Bundeswehr Hospital in Berlin. All participating organisations are partners in the Bundeswehr's \u201eNetzwerk der Hilfe\u201c (Network of Assistance). The professional film adaptation of the scripts was carried out in collaboration with the Berlin agency <b>C3 Creative Code and Content Limited Company<\/b>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/section><section id=\"ausgezeichnete-aufklaerungsarbeit\" class=\"bde-section-1447-349 bde-section\">\n  \n  \n\t\n\n\n\n<div class=\"section-container\"><div class=\"bde-div-1447-350 bde-div\">\n  \n  \n\t\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"bde-heading-1447-351 bde-heading\">\nExcellent educational work\n<\/h2><div class=\"bde-rich-text-1447-352 bde-rich-text breakdance-rich-text-styles\">\n<p>We chose this cinematic approach to make the anonymous fates tangible without exposing individual people.
